SURESMILE® PROCESS

A clear, step-by-step digital workflow.

SureSmile typically follows a simple journey: exam → bonding → digital scan → customized wire phase → finishing. Your orthodontist uses the digital model to plan the target position of each tooth.

Advanced imaging Prescriptive planning Customized wire phase Precision finishing
  • Exam: goals + evaluation + clear plan.
  • Bonding: brackets placed and initial alignment begins (if braces-based).
  • Scan: 3D model captured for planning.
  • Customized phase: components/wires match the digital prescription.
  • Finish + retain: final detail work + retention plan.

SURGICAL ORTHODONTICS

When jaw alignment needs more than orthodontics alone.

In some severe cases, orthodontics is combined with orthognathic (jaw) surgery. WE Ortho coordinates with an oral & maxillofacial surgeon to plan the best outcome.

Team approach Jaw alignment Complex bites Function-focused
  • Evaluation: confirm whether surgery is part of the plan.
  • Ortho prep: braces/aligners may be used to set the stage.
  • Surgery + healing: coordinated timeline + support.
  • Finish + retain: refine the bite and protect the result.

If surgery is recommended, we’ll walk you through the full timeline clearly.
TMJ / TMD

Jaw discomfort deserves a real evaluation.

TMJ/TMD symptoms can show up as jaw pain, headaches, clicking, or bite changes. Tell us what you’re experiencing — we’ll help determine next steps and coordination.

  • Pain in the jaw area
  • Ear ringing/stuffiness
  • Neck aches or frequent headaches
  • Limited opening or “locked” jaw

Not all jaw pain is TMJ/TMD — evaluation matters.
i-CAT® 3D

3D imaging that supports precise diagnosis.

The i-CAT 3D imaging system helps capture detailed information used for orthodontic evaluation, treatment planning, TMJ insights, and airway-related assessment.

COMMON ISSUES

We treat more than “crooked teeth.”

Orthodontics can address crowding, spacing, open bites, deep bites, overjet, underbites, and other bite-related problems that affect function and confidence.

Crowding Spacing Overbite / Overjet Underbite / Open bite
  • Crowding, spacing, and alignment concerns
  • Bite issues (deep bite, open bite, overjet, underbite)
  • Missing teeth situations that affect spacing/finishing
  • Early-phase guidance when growth timing matters

Advanced needs (when relevant)

Some cases involve more than alignment. If any of these apply, we’ll explain options clearly and coordinate next steps.

When bite relationships are more complex, we may recommend braces, aligners, growth guidance, or a coordinated plan with other providers — all based on your exam and goals.
If you have jaw pain, clicking, headaches, or limited opening, we’ll discuss what we’re seeing and whether orthodontics, habit changes, or coordinated care is appropriate.
We consider airway and breathing patterns as part of whole-health planning. If needed, we coordinate with the right providers for further evaluation.
In select cases, jaw surgery is part of achieving stable function and alignment. If it’s relevant, we’ll explain timing, planning, and who’s involved.

Treatment FAQs

Fast answers. If you want clarity on your specific case, the best next step is a complimentary consultation.

We evaluate alignment, bite, jaw function, and timing. Then we recommend the option that best supports stability and comfort — not a generic plan.
Not always. Aligners are great for many cases, but braces can be the better choice for certain bite corrections or when more guided movement is needed.
For best results, aligners are typically worn 20–22 hours per day and removed only for eating, brushing, and flossing.
Many aligner plans use periodic checkups about every six weeks (your exact schedule depends on your plan and progress).
Treatment time varies by complexity and goals. In our case examples, many braces treatments fall in the ~20–30 month range, but your plan may be shorter or longer depending on your bite, growth, and goals.
Cost depends on what needs to be corrected, how long your plan lasts, and the specific treatment details. Many plans offer payment options, and orthodontic insurance may apply depending on your coverage.
Surgical orthodontics (orthognathic surgery) may be considered when jaws don’t line up correctly and a stable bite can’t be achieved with orthodontics alone. It’s performed in a hospital, often includes about a two-week rest period, and braces may continue for ~6–12 months after surgery, followed by retention.
They can. Symptoms can include jaw pain, clicking/popping, headaches/neck aches, limited opening, and bite changes. Not all jaw pain is TMD, so an exam is important to determine what’s going on and what steps make sense.

Reminder: Only an orthodontic exam can determine the best option for you.
